- What to do in mulhouse ?
- Proposed stays and full-day itineraries
Each month, a local or international graphic artist is invited to create a temporary design on a city wall on Rue de la Moselle.
The work is then covered over later by a new artist.
To touch upon the trompe-l’oeil tradition that decorates the old city hall in a Rhineland Renaissance style, the artists from Mulhouse were entrusted with the walls so they could let their creativity run wild and produce work on the theme of Mulhouse.
Today there are nearly sixty walls that display the history of Mulhouse: places and anecdotes, famous figures…
Beside the canal, in front of La Filature Cultural Centre, there is a park that has various sculptures from contemporary Mulhouse artists.
Every year, the city of Mulhouse commissions works from an artist from Mulhouse or another city, which the city can exhibit in the streets. At the end of the exhibition, one of the works is kept in the city. Started in 2000, there are 14 sculptures that can now be admired while strolling through the streets and parks of Mulhouse.
A guided visit (link to the guided visit of walls, paintings, each one a story) will help you learn about these small treasures spread around the city.
